Thermal Pane Glass Repair

Most home owners that have thermal pane windows do not know what to do with them once they become foggy windows. Sure Thermal pane windows insulate better than single pane glass, but they become foggy windows and thus not insulating glass anymore. If you have thermal pane windows, I am sure that since your home was built, there has been some thermal pane glass that has been replaced, unless your home is less than 3 years old.

Most Insulating Glass Units (Thermal Pane Glass or Double Pane Glass) has a life span of about 10 years. That means that if your home was built before 1999 then you probably should expect to see moisture between the glass. Window Revision can solve the foggy window problems with a system called the “Moisture Control System” or “Foggy Window Repair”. We do not replace the glass , we just repair it by drilling a tiny hole into the top corner of the glass and cleaning out the moisture and fog. After the tiny hole is drilled, we apply a moisture control membrane right over the hole so that the moisture that is in the window can evaporate out of the window.

This membrane is an appliance that has real purpose. Sure if we drilled a hole in the glass and then did nothing, the moisture would find its way out of the thermal pane glass, but it would be far from an insulating glass unit at the point. That is reason for the membrane. It allows the window to express all the moisture vapor and humidity but still retains the ‘insulating properties” that is intended. Once the Moisture Control System is installed, you should expect to see some moisture remain for  a few days but it will quickly be gone. From that point, you thermal pane glass will be insulating glass again and will also help to reduce the energy consumption in your home. Just remember thermal pane window are not  insulating at peak levels until the moisture is removed.
